After the wake of Hurricane Irma, the Freemind team threw on their cowboy boots and flew down to Orlando for a week to wrangle two of Microsoft’s events, Ignite and Envision. We were responsible for Windows content and speaker management in addition to Windows expo booth management.

Microsoft Ignite is not your average, “I’m just here for the free swag” convention. Think of Microsoft Ignite as a week-long carnival for IT Pros, Developers and IT influencers. Attendees had their dreams come true by watching their IT heroes showcase the newest technology. On the other hand, Microsoft Envision is a 3-day co-located event where everyone was dressed for success and C-levels were on the prowl to transform the way their businesses compete in the technology realm.

The sun wasn’t the only the only thing we looked forward to in Orlando as we were excited to attend informative and inspiring sessions such as:

• Courage in the face of opportunity by Michelle Obama

• Changing Paradigms, transforming the world by Michael Gervais

First lady Michelle Obama spoke straight from the heart that left the audience in tears and blessed us with some quotes that should be passed down to our grandchildren:

• “Being your authentic self is important as a leader. You’ve got to get used to you”

• “Fame will crush you”

The man, the myth, the legend, Michael Gervais provided his audience with the key on performing at a high level.

Besides the learning, networking, and managing, we enjoyed the post-convention celebrations especially the buyout of Universal Orlando. Whoever planned that event deserves a raise. You couldn’t walk 20 yards without seeing a table setup with free beer, wine and soda. Not to mention, all the restaurants there were open with free food! In addition to the treasures of life, (free food and booze), the best highlight was feeling like we’ve all have been accepted to Hogwarts as we experienced the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Overall, Orlando was an eventful experience (no pun intended). It was great to see the fruits of our labor had bloomed and contributed to two successful conventions. Until next time..
